Vizio may be known for its ultra-low cost LCD TVs and plasmas, but it's not surprising to find that the firm's
warranty terms are less than attractive. Interestingly, a recent article has found that
Vizio has actually tweaked its warranty so that shipping a faulty set back to the company becomes Vizio's responsibility rather than the users if the display in question is 42-inches or larger. Of course, this process isn't necessary if Vizio can repair the television on-site, but for units less than 42-inches, shipping it back for "a replacement" could cost the customer "hundreds of dollars." Granted, it's not shocking that mailing a heavy, unwieldy object is pricey, but you may want to think twice about snagging that under-42-inch Vizio if you've got a paranoid bone in your body. I have no problem with this considering Vizio made complete arrangements to send someone into my home, unmount the faulty 42" unit from the wall and hang a brand new unit. The faulty video board led to the replacement under warranty and didn't cost me a dime.
I seriously doubt I would have gotten the less than 24-hour response from a big company, nor the two-week in-home resolution I did get. And yes, I am thinking of buying another Vizio.

The1..... I am sure they are glad you dont own their products as well. I on the other hand do and I am more than happy with their service. My TV hasnt broken yet, but I did call on some install ?'s and they called me right back in the time that they said they would and stayed with me on the phone untill all my ?'s were answered. THANKS AGAIN VIZIO!

I understand with some price is an issue. But I have a friend with a Vizio(and yes, it is hooked up correctly, I checked) and another with a 46 "Sony Bravia Xbr2. The difference in picture quality is night and day. The Vizio just looks like crap.
I would not recommend getting a Vizio to anyone who wants to experience what HDTV is all about. Get a Sony, Samsung, or Sharp.

The difference in price is also night and day... VIZIO puts out a good product for the price. I bought one for my bedroom and it looks great. Sure a SONY/SAMMY is better but for a TV I only watch to fall asleep too, it's more than OK.
VIZIO has always reviewed well and that is why I went with one. It's definitely better than the other "low cost" HDTV's in the same price bracket.
I'll go with a SONY when I upgrade my main movie watching TV.

For those new purchasers of Vizio TVs, I have but one comment; just wait! As a two year owner of five Vizios, I can speak from knowledge learned the hard way. Vizios are junk!! I have had problems with every unit. I now have a 37" LCD set with a malfunctioning tuner and Vizio refuses to acknowledge my problem. Vizios are not inexpensive, they are chinese cheap!
