The HD DVD Promotional Group is on the ground at Comic-Con, with the
price drop of the Xbox 360 HD DVD add-on and accompanying
5 free disc promotional offer, with more details of content to expect this holiday season. The
Heroes: Season 1 HD DVD boxed set will be available August 28, including
HDi features exclusive to the high def release, like a web enabled download center, Heroes Abilities Test, picture-in-picture commentary and others. This is
Universal's first release to take advantage of HD-DVD's online capabilities, but it
won't be the last. The seven disc package has an SRP of $99.98, and as mentioned earlier, Xbox Live members will be able to download the pilot episode for free before its release.

At least Blu-Ray will get Lost (although the original report was denied, every other Blu-Ray release in that report was confirmed so there's a good chance the info on Lost being released on Blu-Ray eventually being confirmed too).
MasterCKO @ Jul 26th 2007 2:20PM
Too bad it's not on BD. It'd be like 4 discs.

You fanboys are something else. Coming onto a site and instead of just saying you picked the side that didn't have Heroes, you whine about how it'd be better on BluRay somehow. And it's not just BluRay fanboys, because I'm sure HD-DVD fanboys are going on whining about Lost. Hey, maybe we could go further and have a Lost vs Heroes war!!! Get a girlfriend, guys.
MasterCKO @ Jul 26th 2007 10:10PM
huh? How is that a fanboy reaction? I'm simply stating a fact. I'm fine with the fact that it's on HD DVD. I bet it's fun up on that soapbox, though.

Well Aggie, you're in luck. It's already dropped $30 from Amazon. If you have the 10% Amazon discount, that's $37 below MSRP, so you can buy it now :)

i'm sick of this crap...they better start cutting down on the number of discs and packaging used for series and box sets. If you can fit multipe movies or multiple episodes on 1 disc, please do. I hate seeing a boxsets on my shelf that are 5 inches wide (LOTR, Star Wars original triology, Naked Gun....looooove that one)
WASD John @ Jul 27th 2007 9:24AM
SimbaDogg, cutting down the number a disc in a set would be pointless. The studios don't decide that they want to include more disc to make it sound like your getting more content. Those disc are chosen b/c they need to be there in order to fit all of the material. You could compress the episodes more, but that would defeat the whole purpose of the set. I'll take 7 or 10 disc any day just as long as I have my quality picture that is after all the main purpose of both dvds, and hd disc.
mike @ Jul 26th 2007 8:27PM
i love how people thought blu-ray and HD-dvd meant you could fit a whole season on 1 disc. Lol yeah, 1 disc to fit the whole season in SD. but these are in HD!!!. The ammount of discs in these releases will be the same as with DVDs. And is one really going to complain about a 7 disc set vs a 5 disc set had it been on blu-ray? I would rather take HD-dvds better picture quality, cost effectiveness and finished specifications (oh and region freeness) over blu-rays additional space anyday.
Personally I love seeing the boxsets on my shelf. Makes me more value in the product for some reason.

Actually, that's what many people were saying about higher capacity disc. I seem to recall several studios and tech writers making comments about how it would be amazing to have an entire season on 1 disc. This was a little over 2-3 years ago though. A lot of them were just going off technical specs and probably didn't take into account the high bitrates that video and audio are using.
