Thats because it is backed by everybody except Universal Pictures. Several of the companies on this HD DVD Chart are also blu-ray backers."

BD does NOT have over 300 movies out, they have only 267 (a mere 10 more than HD DVD). However, HD DVD does have WAY more movies available than BD if you count the foreign releases that aren't available in the US (including BD exclusives like Underworld: Evolution, Reign of Fire, etc, and unreleased movies like Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire available overseas in HD DVD).

Also, if this proves that Universal = HD DVD, then the BD graph proves that Sony = BD (Sony + Beuna Vista = 40% of the movies).

I also don't see Weinstein (4.3%), Rhino (1.1%), or DVD International (3.4%) on the BD list... You'll also notice that Warner has a much higher percentage on HD DVD because they're currently giving them more support (Batman Begins and Matrix, anyone?). That's because BD isn't ready for primetime yet... But in typical BD fashion, they keep saying, "Soon we'll be better than HD DVD." They've been saying that for over a year now, and they're still months away from catching up with features -- and even 1.1 won't guarantee network connectivity since from what I've read, they don't require an ethernet jack in the spec. Nice...

Neither format is going anywhere for a very long time (if ever).

Xyzzy

Comments on

Check Whois - it is indeed the same guy.

MegaZone

Comments on

The HD A2 is also $199 through CC when you use the $40 off coupon...that is talked about on deal sites

Mike
