Cox to add National Geographic HD
Of all the HD channels out there that aren't offered by most providers, it seems that National Geographic HD might be the most sought after. We have some good news for Cox Communications subscribers, 'cause they're going to start rolling it out this year and expect all HD subscribers to have it by 2009. Unfortunately for most, Cox isn't the biggest provider in the country, so the rest of us will have to wait -- or if you can't wait, just switch to DISH Network.

I have Cox HD service in Phoenix and I noticed NGHD pop up on my Menu and have been watching it since July 1.

Soo ... I have Brighthouse. Is that Cox? I used to have Cox cable and internet, then they changed their name to "Suddenlink Communications" which I guess was a merge between Charter and Cox??
Then they started playing ads saying "net neutrality is bad for the customer!" so I moved out of their coverage area. I really did. I wasn't going to support that crap, and they were the only place I could have gotten a good internet connection from in that location.
So I moved to a place that gets Brighthouse. Soon after that, Brighthouse bought out Suddenlink.
Are these Cox?? Ah... so confused. All I know is that I want National Geographic HD. :-(

are you implying that it's already on DISHNetwork? Where??

I gotta tell you, I'm not very impressed with NGHD.
Maybe I'm used to HD channels offering content in gee, I don't know *HD* all the time. Discovery HD Theater is much better in that regard I think. Out here in New Hampshire, Comcast just recently gave us NGHD & A&E HD and we LOST INHD and HDNet Movies. A&E HD seems to have a similar flaw.
Just my 2 cents.

I'm going to second a negative on National Geographic HD
Dish offers it as a premium channel but had it in free preview mode for several days. I watched on a very good CRT HDTV from the Sony XBR series. I thought the programs were not as nice In visual or content quality as either Discovery Theater HD or Voom's Equator HD.
This may have changed since then, but I wouldnt know.
And in general, even their SD channel has a "cheap/taboid" feel to it that does not reflect the value of the National Geographic Magazine.

Cox Santa Barbara has had this channel since about April. It's pretty "meh" in terms of content, it's no Discovery HDT...
belcho @ Jul 20th 2007 11:45AM
So, does that mean you'll finally add it to the HDTV daily listings? That'd be nice.

I live in Topeka, KS and we've had this channel via COX Communications for months now. Now if we can just get more than 15 channels... like oh, I dunno... FOX HD?!?! Right now our lineup in HD is: ABC HD, NBC HD, PBS HD, HBO HD, CBS HD, Starz! HD, Showtime HD, TNT HD, ESPN 2 HD, ESPN HD, Discovery Theater HD, MOJO, National Geographic HD, Universal HD, and MHD.
