DirecTV 10 to launch tonight at 8:30EDT
Never before have we seen such an anticipated satellite launch. The DirecTV 10 launch is different because it's the first step for DirecTV to fulfill their unbelievable claims. So if you can't get enough of this stuff, follow the read links to the discussion, or join the a live chat. Also, the launch will be televised on channel 570 via DirecTV. We don't know about anyone else, but we'll have our fingers crossed that everything goes as planned and DirecTV will stay on schedule to make this baby operational on September 15th.

Godspeed HD satellite...

I hope an asteroid hits it. I hate DirecTV.

The satelliteguys are going to sit at home on a Friday night and worry about that? People make it sound like that this will give dtv unlimited bandwidth. NOT. I can't wait to see them try and compete with switched digital.

Competition is good. If DirecTv wasn't doing this and making claims of so many HD Channels who knows how long it would take Cable to do something like Switched Digital.

Yeah, cause comcast is Comcastic. Had more outtages in one year of comcast than nearly 9 of Directv, I switched back of course, and managed to get an actual Tivo DVR instead of that craptastic moto box. I do however wish Directv would broadcast a full HD signal instead of their not quite HD version.

So, did it go up...? I set the TiVo up to record it, went to watch it just now, and instead I got the message that it was going up soon.... And that's all it recorded, the countdown to when we were going to get live coverage. :(

So far so good. Only the last burn left (3 stages plus 4 out of 5 burns by the transfer engine stage) at ~6AM EDT. Then it's up to the satellite itself.
Whether or not you like DirecTV, you should favor this, as it means that the "cable" channels will start offering HD service this September, which benefits cable subscribers, too.
