Wall Street analyst mock DirecTV's HD claims
There is no doubt that we give DirecTV a hard time around here; after all ,they were at one time the undisputed HD leader. It looks like we're not the only one mocking their claim to add 100 National HD channels this year. Sanford C. Bernstein's Craig Moffett explains DirecTV's interesting methods of counting HD channels and confesses that "we know DirecTV is the best" because Jessica Simpson, Shannon Elizabeth, and Pamela Anderson told us so. While we're not ready to give DirecTV the benefit of the doubt, we are really hoping we get tons of mud on our face from this one.

I too am waiting to see what happens.. With recent news of a launch being delayed it's looking like it'll be a while.. If it does happen I plan on leaving Comcrap once and for all!

Sure, they count funky. But even with their CONFIRMED offerings, it's a HUGE deal.
ABC Family HD
Disney Channel HD
Food Channel HD
A&E HD
Animal Planet HD
Discovery HD
SCI FI Channel
Cartoon Network HD
etc.
I mean, if they offer just this list, it's awesome (as long as it isn't HDLite). Time Warner is an absolute joke in comparison.

While DirecTV should never have made a promised projection of how many HD channels they plan to offer in a given period of time, they still offer the better option for HD over cable's offering, both in quantity and quality. I'll stick with DirecTV.
