uhh...i guess you guys aren't familiar w/ hi-fi equpiment, i just had a good friend of mine, and a long time customer pick up a denon dvd3930ci...a $1500 dvd player. yes, a DVD PLAYER for $1500. Elites are hi-fi equipment, not the avg run of the mill products. i mean, consider that two years ago pioneer had their dv79 which was a $1000 DVD PLAYER, the year before a dv59...another dvd player w/ a price of $999.98 This is NOT unusual or "high" pricing for the quality of this component.
