Do you really think it costs Pioneer that much money to manufacture the player? I doubt it, they are just trying to make as much profit as they can on it. The most expensive part of the player is the laser, and recently Sony has made a bunch of announcements saying how much the price has dropped. Blu-ray players should be selling at no more than HD-XA2; Since they have comparable features. I don't know why these companies are trying to sell equipment at such high prices, the average person will not be able to afford this, and why would anyone buy one of these standalones when you can get a PS3 for only $600.
