Erm, huh? PS3 supports both bitstream and linear PCM across the HDMI cable. Right now it plays TrueHD by decoding the signal internally and sending it along as PCM audio, although I suspect it'll send the native TrueHD signal along to a compliant 1.3 receiver (like the new Onkyo TX-SR605).
Still waiting for DTS HD-MA support, though (along with the rest of the high def world). It was rumored to hit in March, but no sign as of yet...
