Got more HDMI devices than available HDMI ports? Since getting up off the couch to change connections is not an option, you're going to keep everything plugged in all the time.
IOGEAR just announced it has begun shipping the first "true" automatic HDMI switch, the GHDMIAS2, using its patented HDAS technology to instantly lock on to the correct HDMI source. The HDMI 2x1 Automatic Switch detects an active source, switches automatically and delivers perfect quality 1080p resolution and HDCP compatibility with no latency. We've seen
automatic switches before but they usually take a few seconds to change between devices. The MSRP for adding one more automatically switched HDMI port to your setup is $169.95, so its probably still cheaper to
count the jacks on your new HDTV before purchase.

What if both ports are active? Like if my PS3 is Folding@Home and I want to watch my HD DVR?

I don't see how this new IOGEAR automatic 2X1 HDMI switch could work with an Apple TV, since the Apple TV is always on. Does anyone have a suggestion on this?
Also, I understand the www.extrememac.com HDMI switch will ship in mid-April. Anyone have any updates on this?
Thanks,
Alan

monoprice.com and octava (octavainc.com) as well as geffen have vastly more feature rich (audio routing/switching, mutliple HDMI inputs) devices - some of which support auto switching and regular remote codes that can be programmed into your advanced remote control
Compared to those, this IOGear is a ripoff (ina ddition to being useless with always-on devices like my PC, PS3 and TiVo S3 HD, as already pointed out)!

Sounds great, if only one HDMI input is active at a time. What happens if I'm playing a game or have my computer hooked up through HDMI, and then my DVR turns on to record a show which initializes the 2nd HDMI port? Does it automatically ignore the new signal until the old one goes away, or does it drop what you were doing to view the new signal?
It sounds like a great product, but I need some more details on what they mean by automatic.
