It's like locking you into itunes with the ipod. Why didn't they just make a real product capable of playing any video format on the planet like the netgear video player? (it's rhetorical, I know it's to make a cheaper player and lock you into quicktime).

On a somewhat related note, quicktime never works on my clean installation of winXP (pick any of the three computers). I think it's more like apple not fully implementing the API's in MSIE and Firefox so that peope like you will say "buy a mac".

andy

Comments on Getting ready for Apple TV

read this:

"Microsoft's Plot to Kill QuickTime"

http://www.roughlydrafted.com/RD/RDM.Tech.Q1.07/5F0C866C-6DDF-4A9A-9515-531B0CA0C29C.html

Steve Ballmer

Comments on Getting ready for Apple TV

Apple TV does not need Quicktime per se.
