In defense of the author, I read the post as an attempt to spark a debate about which flat panel format is currently superior. He wasn't intending to compare LCD or Plasma against CRT, DLP or LCOS. If this post had been written two years ago then Plasma would have been the clear winner. Today that can be debated.
I would personally rather buy a 1366x768 LCD than a comparably priced 1024x768 plasma. I can't bring my self to drop that much cash of a display that can't show 720p without down converting. If we are talking 1080p panels, then I'd give the edge to Plasma.
