So it looks like HD DVD fans are not going to get Spielberg's blockbuster films as soon as expected. The PR group for the HD DVD forum has just posted an apology for placing
E.T., Jaws, and Jurassic Park on their Coming Soon list before consulting with Spielberg first. Long time movie experts know that Spielberg does not embrace new home movie formats right off the bat, but rather waits for a bit - George Lucas is the same way with his films. So basically, these three movies are not going to be the saving grace of HD DVD anytime soon.

not to mention that when it comes to lucas, fox is already on the blu-ray side of the force anyway.

What I find imminently stupid is that, for both Spielberg and Lucas, they would be the heavy hitters. They would be the market deciders if they proactively chose one format over the other. They could place their considerable rate behind one of the two formats and end the format war.
Instead, they waste their market power and wait until a winner is decided _then_ wait a bit before releasing their most anticipated films on the eventual format.

I want Blu-ray to win, but anyway, Steven Spielberg is overrated. None of the films he made are as good as critics want them to be. They are utter crap. Same goes for Lucas. Seriously, there are always better alternatives directly competing with their movies. Seriously, stop loving all the crap they produce. Anyone's shit is worth more than both's entire movie productions combined.
And by the way, Spielberg thinks Blu-ray is better.

How is this a "win" for Blu-ray? They are not getting the films either...
