A&E HD on DISH Network
While DirecTV loves to make promises of their new HD channels, DISH continues to deliver the most HD channels available and today they increased that by one with the addition of A&E HD. Now DISH Network viewers can enjoy CSI: Miami in HD over and over again. For those who don't have A&E HD yet it is a simulcast of A&E and not all the programming is in HD, including The Sopranos. The good news is they don't stretch all their SD programming or claim that it's all HD in the guide.[Thanks, Frankie!]

Am I the only one who thinks that this is the most pointless HD channel? They don't show that much material that is even available in HD, also the stuff they do have available.. ie The Sopranos ISN'T IN HD!!! I tuned into their premiere of the pilot just to see what it was going to be like watered down, and I had to turn the channel b/c the picture was in SD and crappy SD on top of that!! I'm just mad it is sitting in my Time Warner lineup taking up VERY valuable Real Estate that could be used for any other channel. Come on A&E get going w/ your HD lineup b/c for the first time I may be trying to get my cable company to remove an HD channel.

*LOL* So I turn to this new HD channel and what's on? The Sapranos... In standard defintion.
Hahaha...

And now they have the D.O.G. on... Also in standard defintion.
What's the point of calling your channel "A&E HD" if the shows you broadcast are not in HD?

"Well Frank, looks like the hens have come to roost, and they're on DISH Network dishes."

It just launched give it a chance, I am just happy that there is another channel that has HD.

Think this through, OK? To have true HD content, you have to shoot the program with an HD camera, and then you have to increase the bandwitdth to broadcast what is about 4 times the information. It has taken a while for even the networks with big bucks to make the investment. So don't be surprised when not every show on an HD channel is in HD. The only channel currently 100% HD is Discovery Home Theater. Be patient! There will only be more HD content as time goes on.
Any entity (e.g. DirecTV) that boasts that it will suddenly have X number more HD channels is not telling you the technical reality.

I recently found this channel added to my Dish Network high definition lineup. I have now tuned in about a half dozen times. Nothing has been in high definition. I scrolled through the channel lineup, going forward two weeks. I can find nothing listed as being broadcast in high definition. What's the point? If anyone knows could they point out a single show that is actually broadcast in high definition on this channel?
