Comcast DVR with TiVo: pics, features

We snagged a bunch of pics of the Comcast DVR with TiVo software for you -- pictured above is a new way to find shows, different from previous TiVo searches -- as you search it simultaneously looks for title, actor, director, etc. and if there are no results, there's an "add wishlist" option which saves you from having to look for that same show again. Once it's on the wishlist, it will be recorded automagically the next time something fits that query. Click on for more pics of the interface after the break.

The wishlist in action, above.

The guide filtered to show only movies.

Season Passes with option to "Get in HD, if possible"

Now when in a folder, you can see the description of the show without actually selecting it.

Dual tuner support has been enhanced; it now shows the name of the program on the other tuner.

Only the Comcast unit will have this On Demand interface feature, unless the Series3 starts to support VOD.

To Do List has been updated to make it easier to view; again they are using the "TiVo list" style view.

VOD screen with price.

New dual tuner control banner.

Good lord! Give us SA Tivo owners some of that PIP action when viewing menus!!!
Looks great. Too bad I'm stuck in TW land.

That "Season Pass" feature looks exactly the same options as the current software offers, except for in HD, if available, instead of that right now, we can choose what channel to always record on, which I always choose the HD channel. Search looks a little better. You were able to see the description of a show without tuning to it, it's called the "info" button. I like the better dual tuner features. We already have all of these on demand options. Overall I don't think it's a huge update, but maybe it'll fix some of the bugs in the hardware too? The only real difference I see is the searching and dual tuner features. I already have all of the other features, just with a different GUI.

Awww man! Time Warner needs to add the TiVo software to their DVRs. The only gripe I have with TWC DVR is the software/interface.

Well, I had a run in with COMCAST quite a few years ago and vowed never to subscribe again... The never end may be coming sooner than I had realized. I've been a Tivo fan for at least 6, 7+ years. When I ended COMCAST, I actually quit TV; well, for 4 months and then got DirecTV. I've had DirecTV for years and with the integrated Tivo - OH YEAH Baby! A year ago they upgraded me to thier EXTREMELY WEEK attempt at DVR programming the DirecTV DVR 200 hour. 4 words, Piece of Fecal Matter. With the end of Tivo and DirecTV, COMCAST...I may be coming home. Well, high hopes, looks good. Tell me more George....

If this box can both record in HD and does not have the issues of the current Comcast DVR (there are many, but easily the biggest one is the ridiculously long response time of FFWD and Rewind - it makes the thing completely unusable!) then this is a very, very big deal, because the only other option to record HD is the Series 3 which is at least $600!

I want this!
My Comcast DVR has the worst software, it's impossible to search for anything. I hope Comcast rolls this out to everyone, not just select markets or whatever.

To get around the rewind and fast-forward woes of the current Comcast DVR, try this:

We have two of the Motorola dual-tuner DVRs with the execrable iGuide software that our cable provider recently switched to from the significantly better Pioneer software. It's so bad I've posted a long list of the defects on Wikipedia. Please feel free to add your complaints.

Perhaps Tivo's software will be an improvement? I wonder if BrightHouse will switch over as well?
