Fox Home Entertainment's 2007 Blu-ray details

NOTE: The above image was provided to us via Fox and was derived via "proprietary Fox research" and therefor should be taken...err...lightly. But anyway, enjoy the chart above and lets move onto the release info.
Fox has a ton action titles slotted for Blu-ray in '07. It is clear who they are targeting with these flicks but, we don't mind more action and less drama in our high definition library it's just that the proposed titles aren't anything great. In fact with the notable exception of Independence Day, the rest of the movies are just O.K, but what do we know because according to the above chart, these titles are gong to make the Blu-ray format simply explode with sales. Apparently, Planet of the Apes (2001) and Dude, Where's My Car is enough to send the format soaring.
We kid, we kid - these are decent movies and most guys will enjoy any of 'em. Click on for the full release schedule and large view of the "chart."

Why are all the dates 2010 and 2011?
Jason @ Jan 8th 2007 2:49PM
By 2010 Bluray sales will actually be 300,000 a week.

Yeah, why is Fox estimating sales for 2010 and 2011? Like I'm actually going to believe what they are predicting.

Independence Day? Dude, Where's my Car? Do they really think people are going to beat down the doors to buy these movies on Blu-Ray?
If you really wanted these movies, you would have already bought them on DVD. I don't think anyone would be stupid enough to buy them on Blu-Ray again for twice the price.
But then again, if you bought Dude, Where's my Car on DVD in the first place....

The funny thing is, it will be possible (if you're so inclined) to get HD-DVD versions of some FOX movies. CANAL+ has the rights for the digital distribution of some Fox movies in Europe, and will make HD-DVDs. And HD-DVDs aren't region coded, so playback of imported shiny discs is a non-issue.

The CANAL+ movie channels show Fox movies, but I haven't seen a single Fox movie on DVD not distributed by Fox - here in Denmark anyway.

It's also important to note that the dates on the bottom are for 2010-2011

Okay, while not stellar, some of these absolutely ROCK! Yeah Dude, er, Car deserves a bit disdain, but c'mon there were 6 other titles that blow away ID4, but went unmentioned.
Master and Commander. Astounding film, and the D-Theater with DTS is AWESOME.
Ice Age... and D-Theater is one of the best.
I, Robot... YAGD-T (Yet Another Great D-Theater).
Crap why doesn't Fox just pump out all their D-Theater titles? They already have astounding MPEG2 encodes ready to rock for a bunch of films... and last I heard Blu-Ray handled MPEG2!
Okay back to the list..
Predator!
Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid!
Edward Scissorhands!
Heck even Man on Fire was pretty descent, if not predictable... and Cast Away did well...

Edward Scissorhands and Master & Commander are some of my favorite flicks. I'm actually pretty excited by these.
