I've been a staunch supporter of the HD-DVD format ever since it was released, and I currently own the HD-DVD drive for the Xbox 360. But...almost everyday I see more and more movies that I want to see coming out exclusively on Blu-ray and fewer and fewer for HD-DVD. While I thought that some more studios would switch sides or go both ways, it seems that the argument that Blu-ray has more exclusive studios which equals more exclusive content is coming into fruition. I won't mind if Blu-ray wins, I just want one format to win as fast as possible so I won't waste a bunch of money on an obsolete format.

Curse the format war.

Tyler

Comments on Buena Vista's worldwide 2007 Blu-ray plans - Pirates and Cars included

This is great news for Blu-ray! Pirates is actually the main reason I got my PS3. Well, that, and I do like movies from Fox and Sony too...

HD DVD would be the best format, but it just doesn't have the support from studios, so to Blu-ray I go...

TJ

Comments on Buena Vista's worldwide 2007 Blu-ray plans - Pirates and Cars included

Tyler... The PS3 got lots of (unwarranted) bad press, but it's a very sweet piece of machine. Something to consider as a BD player. Oh, and I'm not just going fanboy on you here, I have an Xbox 360 and plan to get the HD-DVD add-on... Universal hasn't jumped sides yet, and they have some great content.

The real stupidity here is that the studios didn't go A-List titles out the gate. Disney's The Wild and NOT Cars? Sheesh. (Yes, I realize it was the only way they could sell The Wild, but still... Sheesh!)

-Pie

EatingPie

Comments on Buena Vista's worldwide 2007 Blu-ray plans - Pirates and Cars included

HD DVD "would be" the best? BD got off to a shaky start, but now is of equal and often better quality. The only thing they've going for them is the lack of region encoding.

Kevin
