I mean seriously, it's got Blu-ray, the Cell processor, Wifi....wireless controllers, free online multiplayer, Sony Store download area, a web browser, some good games on the way and it's got HDMI 1.3!

Wow...I'm so mad at myself..I could have bought an XBOX 360 for $399 and got none of the above.

At $399, the 360Prem, is wayyyy overpriced considering what you don't get. And there is no way I'm buying the core, that things just crap. No HDD, no wireless controller.

BTW, I got the $499 version of the PS3. It does everything the 60GB version does. I can always upgrade the drive myself. And I already had a gaming wireless adapter.

PS...you got two games...lol...halo and GoW, all 5 levels of GoW. HDMI 1.3 is ok. Deep Color has to be supported by both end devices. You don't magically get better color. Passing native hirez codecs is nice but that may take a while and an expensive AVR before you're enjoying that.

It won't be the deep colour, RSX (aka GeForce 7900) only supports 8 bit framebuffers. Better compressed audio support maybe? Though there's no point when HDMI can already do 8 channel uncompressed. A list of specs doesn't make a machine great, blathering fanboys trying to defend their purchase of the PS3 also don't make it a great machine.

This is the first time I've seen people excited about a cable, not even a new type of cable but a new revision of a cable. Seriously HDMI and HDCP are a pain in the ass, I've lost count of the number of times I have seen HDMI devices lose handshake with displays, ending up with one or more reboots to get them friendly again.

I can't say enough how much I wish I had embedded a component cable in the wall behind my display rather than an HDMI. It has been the biggest pain to deal with. Especially when HDMI was touted as solving all these issues and being a 1 cable solution. Absolute baloney.

HDCP = hairloss, nightmares, dropped cones of ice cream, termites, and all the other sad/annoying things in life.
