How much of the new product will restore of the original HD material that direct tv throws away in presenting their hd lite interpretation of hd? None.
But with the same release; you now have access to the OTA feature of the box.
As for the "HD-Lite"; that is not do to the receiver... that is a "broadcast" issue... and not exclusive to DirecTV. DishNetwork has the same issue, as do some cable-co's.
So nothing is going to fix that until more bandwith is aquired (which is happening in 2006); The HD's are converted to MPEG-4; Or you start to drop some of the channels that are taking up space.
