Comcast adds several HD channels, Golf Channel / Versus HD due in January
Considering Comcast has been on a mild HD-adding frenzy of late, it's not too much of a surprise to learn that the firm has added yet another run of high definition options to its (arguably) robust lineup. Motor City users over at AVS have confirmed the addition of A&E HD, Universal HD (it's back?), National Geographic HD, and Fox Sports Net Detroit HD, which brings their total HD selection to 21 channels. Additionally, it looks like the removal of INHD-2 has brought about a separate, new channel that will be used to simulcast The Golf Channel during daylight hours while queuing up Versus (formerly known as The Outdoor Life Network) content at night. This will presumably solve the quandary Comcast has with needing an additional outlet to showcase all that HD-quality hockey it owns without HDNet, and should be available for your enjoyment in January. So, any of you folks not in Michigan receiving any sweet bonuses from Comcast in terms of HD offerings?

In Seattle, we got "messages" in our cable boxes that we'll get a few channels, like UHD and MHD (MTV HD) December 15th, and the rest January 17th, I think... I deleted the messages.

We got UHD and MHD here in San Francisco last week. And my parents over in Stockton (near sacramento) also got UHD and MHD. My mom is dying to get HGtv HD and Food network HD...she always asks me if I've heard anything.

There is only one problem with any cable provider adding new channels and it being reported in the new and that is its seldom a global deployment, which means several localities are not getting or not getting it anytime soon.
Heck, Comcast just took over my Adelphia franchise in Atlanta and they don't even carry all of the regular networks in HD let alone the typical HD cable channels. It'd be nice if everyone got the same programming made available to all for a given cable provider, but its always spotty.

I would have expected any other cable company to offer HGTV or Food network HD as a new HD offering. Golf HD? Versus? Yuck. Thats Why Im Cancelling Comcast in february when I move into my new house. In Albuquerque Comcast doesnt even carry CBS-HD or CW-HD, but they are adding Golf HD?
Hello Dish?

I've noticed MHD which is a music channel in HD, it has mtv, vh1, and cmt stuff although the logo was MTV when i scrolled over it. I'm in NJ by the way.

MHD is being added to replace INHD2 on Dec. 15th in Mont. County, MD. I'm still dying to get back UHD (removed after the olympics were over) to watch BSG HD (is that enough abbreviations for you?)

We've had UHD, MHD, NESN HD, for a while. I haven't noticed the addition of Golf or Versus here in the Boston Market. YUCK who wants that crap?
Lookie here I shot a deer in HD, look at the gills on the fish I just caught in HD. So not worth it.
