I think it is really stupid how they don't do DVD upconversion in their PS3s. With it playing Blu-rays and DVDs they should be upconverted to 1080p (including the psx and ps2 games). I understand Sony is trying to push Blu-ray and get DVD's off the shelves but everybody knows there is no comparison to an upconverted DVD verse a Blu-ray (one that is descently mastered.) An machine like that should do it. Sony's Blu-ray player (that they delayed AGAIN) is going to do upconversion. Also when it comes to HDMI/component cables being provided, I agree with everyone when they say that they should be provided, however, i fear that if they did provide HDMI or even component cables, that they would be the really cheap cables that they most likely use for testing TVs to make sure the inputs work. When you have a 1080p TV (especially if it is big) it needs to have great cables on it to make it even better quality, bottom line.
