Buena Vista's December Blu-ray releases: Pearl Harbor and Invincible
Disney's home distribution arm, Buena Vista has successfully launched two waves of Blu-ray titles already, and is dropping a couple more before year end. Pearl Harbor and Invincible are the lucky movies, the latter day-and-date with the DVD version. No word on any special features or "Blu-scape" extras, but they carry an MSRP of $34.98. No Pirates of the Caribbean or Cars just yet, seems like we'll have to wait until 2007, meanwhile we'll "enjoy" box office-failure Pearl Harbor.[Thanks, Dave]

It would have been cool if they released Pearl Harbor alongside Team America: World Police.
"I miss you more than Michael Bay missed the mark, When he made Pearl Harbor. / I miss you more than that movie missed the point, And that's an awful lot, girl. / And now, now you've gone away, And all I'm trying to say, is: Pearl Harbor sucked and I miss you. / I need you like Ben Affleck needs acting school, He was terrible in that film. / I need you like Cuba Gooding needed a bigger part, He's way better than Ben Affleck. / And now, all I can think about is your smile, and that shitty movie, too! Pearl Harbor sucked and I miss you. / Why does Michael Bay get to keep on making movies? / I guess Pearl Harbor sucked, just a little bit more than I miss you."

I loved Pearl Harbor. If I had a blue ray, I would totally buy that disc. It wansn't a perfect movie, but it was pretty damn good.
The DVD is great. I would love to watch that in high def.

Um Pearl Harbor grossed 450 million worldwide. This is a failure?
Rick @ Oct 20th 2006 10:20PM
That just makes it succesful, not a good movie. Although it is in my opinion.

450 million worldwide isn't something to be proud of for a movie that cost 132 million especially with the expections because of the subject matter. that is why some consider it a failure. now if it only cost 20 million to make and promote, that would be a different story.

The Spiderman font at the bottom is just goofy.

How is it "Beyond High Definition" when it's only listing HD Picture and HD Sound?
Aaron @ Oct 21st 2006 2:41PM
this is the same company that says hd-dvd is required for the xbox 360.
jon mcgowan @ Oct 22nd 2006 3:51PM
oh yea? i didnt know BUENA VISTA is the one who makes PS3 and claimed HD-DVD was required... wow.
Jason @ Oct 23rd 2006 2:56PM
I liked Pearl Harbor a ton. And just pre-ordered the HD-DVD Xbox 360 add on - damn.
I wish the studios would just support both formats.

Why would i want to buy this movie? I own it on DVD already since 2002. What? the only diffrence would be a 40% increase on sharpness. I saw the player Demo at an EXPO. It not a real big deal. Besides the best part of Pearl Harbor was the last Hr of Disc One. I also had a big conversation with the techs there. Buy HD-DVD, more industries are leaning towards it. Buy PS3 for your games and Blue-Ray flicks.
