Sorry, but the past tense of 'shine on' is 'shone on'. 'Shined' is the transitive version, as in 'I last shined my shoes six months ago'. I keep seeing this and it actually hurts - as when people write the past of 'spin' as 'span'. That sort of thing may be all welll and good in the USA...

I see more and more of that (and spelling errors) every day. And not just on 'blog' sites, but 'real' news sources like CNN, and others.

Not that it really matters, but isn't "shined on us" also transitive? The gods were shining on the object "us".
