HDMI 1.3 has its place but its certainly not necessary right now. It offers the "Deep Color" enhanced video but your source material needs to output this. It doesn't magically make your video look better. The TrueHD support is nice but there are no AV Receivers right now with HDMI 1.3 and integrated TrueHD decoders. So quiet honestly the best thing to do is simply grab a HDTV and an HDMI 1.x AV Receiver and let the market improve before hopping in. You can only future proof so much.
