I record HD and *can* burn most recordings to regular DL DVD's in HD-DVD format (using Ulead DVD Factory and a Nero trick to burn). If this thing supports the same HD codecs as HD-DVD/Blu-Ray, but only has a red laser pickup, I would definitely be interested.
The DVD forum has created a new spec some time ago, called DVD-Video version 2.0 which expands the red laser DVD's to include HD content. I think that is what this player supports.
