The Panny 1000u will probably be sub 5k as well. Can't imagine it being for $ than the Sony.

My vote for the best Plasma I saw was the Pioneer Elite; the whole impact of the Elite Plasma line just seems to have more depth and well I guess 'reality' to it to my eyes. but these best of lists will forever be very subjective.
