Not really, if it's a lousy show, story or acting (that takes care of most TV, I guess) we'll still watch it. Even on older shows like Gilligan's Island, on standard DVD, we now see cigarette butts all over the island sand (and where would they get cigarettes if.... oh never mind!) You can see a highway up over the lagune with cars, and an electric tower on the island on some outside scenes. Even smoke coming from behind the camera, or now you can see clearly Mary Ann has a moustache! Since nothing else seems to stop people from watching 'Gilligan', "out-of-place" objects in the background (or foreground) won't for other shows either.
