Yet another
claim of a coming dual-format HD DVD and Blu-ray player has now turned into yet another denial of an upcoming combo player. Pioneer has now stated to cdfreaks that previous reports of a coming BDR-103 were based on quotes "taken out of context" and gave the now-familiar "we have no current plans to do so" line when questioned about possible HD DVD support. "
We have the technology" was all the excuse needed to rebuild
The Six Million Dollar Man, why doesn't the same go for Blu-ray and HD DVD?

Funny, the only place I read the so-called rumor was on HDbeat. Not that is sensationalistic reporting!

I'm sure it's technically possible to do (although, can you just imagine the cost of licensing both technologies?)
Sony would be none too pleased, because it would certainly keep their competitor alive (or vice versa).

You know that the first combo player is going to be some no-name brand from Korea and will sell for about half the price of name brand. This will force the name brands to (a) release a combo player and (b) sell players at a more affordable price.
I wonder how long it will take to get a region free Combo player?

GhostDoggy, you read it here because no one else cares about this stuff but us! heh
It's more likely that no one will report on such a player until a model number is released, meaning that a player is actually in production. We're one of the only places that cares about rumors about rumors about players that may or may not come about. We're hopeful, what can ya do?
