Blu-ray Disc Association press conference on August 31 at IFA
The Blu-ray Disc Association just dropped us a note concerning their August 31 press event at the IFA Conference. While we don't have any exact details, we do know what is going to be talked about and the part the interests us the most is the key partner announcement. Fox is planning to announce its release titles, but that is to be expected as this is the first major BDA event in a while and Fox has been tight-lipped up until now. PS3 and Blu-ray format update news should be interesting too but we just wonder what "key partner announcement" means? Your thoughts.

It'll be more hot air coming from a group that have underachieved greatly in 2006. Perhaps their key partner needs to be someone who can actually press 50GB discs in quantity capable of distributing a feature film length movie.

Blu-Ray really need to be pulling something special out of the bag, HD DVD have a $100 million roadshow and Sony et.al answer is to have a meeting!
Get those 50Gb disks out the door AND stop using MPEG2 whilst not counting on a games machine to win the HD movie format war for a start

Key partner announcement is likely a computer manufacturer making BD drives available as an option in some of their systems.

Unless that key partner is Universal! That would end the format war real quick! ;)
I'm actually quite curious to see what the Fox titles will be. My primary reason for getting PS3 is as a cheap Blu-ray player, and one of the reasons I want Blu-ray is for Fox and Disney flicks. Until they get the 50gb discs working, I'll continue to get my Warner and Paramount movies on HD DVD though.
