The HR20 has landed! In LA at least

Looks like Earl Bonovich has had one for a few weeks and written a full review over at DBStalk. The review is very comprehensive and includes lots of pictures. The price is $399 which seems fair compared to other offerings, but it would be nice if you owned it at that price. If you live in LA call DirecTV and order yours, otherwise you have to wait a month or so with the rest of us.
The details include.
- Dual SAT Tuners
- Dual ATSC Tuners (functionality is disabled at this time)
- Wired RJ-45 Ethernet Port
- External SATA Connection
- 300gb SATA Internal Hard Drive
- RF Remote Compatible with the Included RC24, and the soon to be released RC32RF

Well my VIP-622 has dual HD tuners and they are not disabled, plus the built in PIP. What is wrong with DirecTV? They had this long to put together a product and launch it with limited functionality. This is why I balked two months ago and went with Dish. Oh and the fact that it is an extra $100 on top of the Sunday Ticket cost to get the games in HD, ugh.

I *hope*,I *hope*,I *hope* they have a exchange program for current directv hd-tivo owners...

#1 - call DirecTV, ask for "Customer Retention" and ask them if they can cut you a deal on SuperFan because you don't think it's worth it. They'll give it to you for free (or $50 at most), especially if you've been a customer for awhile.

Heh...and I just got my HR10-250 HD-Tivo from DirecTV earlier this month. Oh well, at least I got it for free through their customer retention department.
There is no way I'm going to pay $400 upfront for the privilege of 'leasing'.

The Sat tuners are not disabled. It is the OTA tuners that are currently disabled. At some point they will be enabled. Also, the VIP-622 has only 1 OTA tunner.

I was assured a few weeks ago that if I leased an HR10-250, then it would be swapped out for free when we finally get MPEG-4 local HD's. I dunno if that goes for people who purchased the HR10-250 before March 1 when the leasing program began.
