Smallville and The West Wing next TV shows to HD DVD?
Our friends at TheManRoom stumbled upon an interesting bit of information in their Invasion DVD boxed set, an advertisement for Smallville and The West Wing coming soon on HD DVD. Based on the box art displayed, one can assume that they plan on releasing current seasons of high-def shows on the new formats first, then working their way back through the older shows. Whether or not these will be day-and-date releases like The Sopranos remains to be seen, but we'll be keeping an eye out for Lost and 24 boxed sets.

Even though I am a Blu-Ray supporter, I will laugh when the *Smallville* HD-DVD box sets outsell *Superman Returns* on HD-DVD.

Just wait until "MI:3" is released on both hd-disc formats in late October - you know HD DVD sales will blow away blu-ray!

The Jeremy- I doubt that'll happen. I like Smallville and all, but Superman Returns is probably the second most anticipated HD DVD of the year for me, right after Batman Begins!
Still bummed we won't be getting Pirates 2 on Blu-ray this year though.

Yeah...bring on Smallville!! Warner is so mysterious with their release dates and the small notice they give to the media. Now if they can just get out Batman Begins,Harry Potter,T3, Superman Returns, The Matrix, & Troy. They gotta be getting ready to release a couple of their big guns soon. Universal on the other hand is just cranking these things out and have some great stuff coming in the next few weeks. Hopefully we get Battlestar Galactica around October just in time for season 3.

What is the possibility of getting Justice League on HD-DVD/Blu-Ray this year?
The Jeremy @ Aug 15th 2006 1:16PM
TJ, *Smallville* treats the characters with more respect than *Superman Returns* did. *Returns* was just a retread of what Donner had done before with yet again showing Lex Luthor to be a moron instead of a genius businessman of moral questionability as he is shown as on *Smallville.* The domestic box office figures also show that *Returns* was not welcomed by the movie going public, nor is it eagerly awaited for on HD-DVD, DVD, UMD, PPV, iTunes, or Blu-Ray. That's like saying *Ishtar* is eagerly awaited on one's HD format of choice.
*Batman Begins* IS a film that is eagerly awaited for on both HD formats.

waiting for stargate and bsg to get on HD DVD before I even start to think about purchasing a player :)

Well Galactica will probably be out before years end since Universal lists it as an upcoming title. However, Stargate wont be on HD-DVD because it is a Sony/MGM owned property. Look for that on Blur ray!! You know the other format, the one thats struggling right now.
