Plasmas: could they be a girls new best friend? Guys sure hope so
What is this we hear? Could it be true? Do girls really prefer plasma TVs over diamonds? A study by the Oxygen Network, that channel all about women stuff, found that three out of four woman would rather have a plasma TV than a diamond necklace. Simply amazing. We wonder what the results would have been if it was a diamond ring however. We really don't think it matters though as you know what this means right? You have a 75% chance that if you buy your wife/girlfriend/mother a plasma for Christmas or Valentines Day, she will love it! Talk about a Trojan horse. So to all of our women readers out there, would you rather have a brand new, fancy plasma TV or the same 'ol diamond necklaces.

Of course they'll pick it over a necklace (The plasma SHOULD be more expensive, maybe), but if you asked them to pick over a diamond ring (upgrade or proposal) I'm sure that survey would change.

My wife sure did like HD LCD tv. She often claims that she does not see a difference between HD and SD, but she really does not know what she is talking about but either way she likes the TV.

Several weeks ago my wife commented on how she wants a plasma TV. Needless to say I was stunned when she said that. She hates the 34" HDTV CRT we have now. She does not care about SD vs HD, but still wants a *plasma* TV. Reading between the lines, plasma refers to thin, not the actual technology. Perhaps women think of it as furnature or something to do with decorating. Perhaps a status thing? Not sure.
We are in the process of selling/buying a new house and she also wants to setup a home theatre room eventually. I was stunned when she said that too, but it's mostly for our kids. She wants to allow them and their friends a *cool* place to hang out now that they are apporaching their teens. Reality is she wants to keep them safe and sound. I'm all for it, obviously. :)

Hmm, let's give you your first response from a woman, shall we? I always knew I was a geek :)
Call me demanding, but when there's a lot more HD content, someone's won the format war and the disc library is a bit more, well, worthwhile (seriously, 9 out of 10 of the release films are awful, or completely throwaway) then I'd love a massive, sleek 1080p Plasma TV.
But until then, I'll stick with my 800x600 projector and hope for diamonds.
(Great blog btw)
