We didn't have HD capability before we got our DVR box, so getting it has definetely increased our HD viewing. Technically though, having the DVR box has increased the amount of TV that we watch, as now I've been able to find shows that might play late at night, early in the morning, during the work day, etc, that I just wouldn't have been bothered to set up a tape recording for. Almost all of the stuff we record now is HD (either from a network or one of the 'digital' HD cable channels like Discovery or Natl. Geographic.) Most of the shows are stuff that I record just to have something to watch just when there's nothing else really on that can hold my interest...fill, you could say.
