All HD DVD players are capable of decoding MPEG-2, VC-1 and H.264/AVC.<br><br>Are you referring to MPEG2 recording? So, if the original broadcast material is in MPEG2, it is better to keep it that way.<br>I wonder what will keep me from recording a high def broadcast of a movie and burning to a HD-DVD disk. Since it is basically a PC it should be able BUT I haven't used any VC-1 encoding apps on the PC so I cant really determine the resources to do on the fly VC-1 encoding.  With multi core chips be coming the standard and quad just around the bend it could be feasible..  I mean my HTPC can dump the ATSC TS stream to a storage device.]]></description><dc:creator><![CDATA[Blaine Doss]]></dc:creator><pubDate>Jul 27th 2006 4:49PM</pubDate></item></channel></rss>
