I bet they left something out...how about have EVERY SINGLE LOCAL CHANNEL, HD AND NOT.
If I was paying $7500 a year, I would expect to be able to watch the Chicago nightly news in HDTV from the local affiliate, even if I lived in LA, or anything like that.
Bet its not there.

Haha, sadly I think the federal laws in place prevent that...i do miss the old days (about 8-10 years ago..) when you could watch CBS LA and stuff from the east cost...
"Available 6/28/06"
is that when the new HD-DVR's will go on sale i wonder???

I wouldnt pay that with their piss poor HD service right now.

Why wouldn't someone pay that much?, it works out at $20 or so a day, How many people spend more than that on booze or cigarettes even when they are earning minimum wage.
I know people who pay that just for very good internet access - I think it has a market, just as Ferrari's, Lamborghinis and Porsche's etc.. do.
Sure a spotty teenager at McDonalds would find it hard to fork out that much, but I don't think thats their market.

I think the line about "Free Adult Channels" is part of their hook for rich guys.
"Honey, why do we have all these porn stations now?"
"Look, there was nothing I could do about that, it came with everything, I can't get rid of them"
Of course, $7,500 a year is a lot to pay for that.

Actually this isn't too expensive. 10 HD DVR's? The full monthly package with PPV would be about $90-150/month or more with some PPV selections. Actually if I could get 10 families involved this would be a sweet setup!

Have they never heard of a Media Server?
GhostDoggy @ Jun 19th 2006 10:16AM
Is that with full-HD (resolution) or just all of the HDlite channels? Sounds silly, but you know what they say about the relation of money to brains ...

I think it is a great idea. I just went to their site and signed up for more information. They called me back within 5-minutes and now I am setup to receive the package. They told me that it would probably become fully operational on the 1st of July. I had to prepay the entire year...but that isn't too bad if you look at what a savings it could be from PayPerView.
I for one am happy.

Receiving every network affiliate across the country is much more feasable than you may think as it's all about Money! On the surface it seems that they will simply divide some of the subscription fee among the networks to filter down to the affiliates. If an affiliate is getting paid, it doesn't care if you don't physically live in the area.
In terms of the 6/28 date, that is the date that DirecTV opens up the availablity of HD Locals in numerous markets. That date has been public for quite some time and if you surf the directv site, you'll see it in print.

Maybe if those DVRs were TiVo Series 3, but I know of the shit they are hoisting upon their subscribers. Nah, I think not...
DirecTV football cards, anyone?
