Hitachi 32HLT79 and 37HLT79 1080p LCDs...aren't
Remember those too good to be true priced to move 32- and 37-inch Hitachi 1080p LCDs we told you about? Turns out they were just that, while the image processor inside the panels is 1080p, the screens themselves are 1366x768 (720p) native. The guys at TG Daily spoke with Hitachi and confirmed this, looking at the original press release it is easy to see how the mistake was made. It doesn't mention the actual resolution of the screens anywhere, despite highlighting the aforementioned processing, refresh rate model #s and price. The Hitachi rep is quick to tell us that for typical viewing distances for that screen size 720p will be just fine which may be true for most, but we'd prefer less processing instead of more, even if it is 1080p. Worse, such terminology makes the 1080p debate just that much more confused. However if you really need a sub-$3,000 1080p

Don't forget Westy already has the 42" 1080p on the shelf and it is a great monitor. It is quietly starting to build some buzz.

The 42" Westinghouse 1080p is on sale for $1999 at Best Buy. Maybe the 47" will be $2499!

What about the new Samsung DLPs? You can pick up a 1080p 50" for under $2200--even after shipping. Froogle it. Mine is on the way.

"Inspire The Next" ... 'Marketing Spin!'
I guess its deemed an effective method in today's marketing to say nothing and let the cowsumers think they are getting more than they really are. But is this really new? Just look at how many XGA plasmas were pawned off as HD.

Best Buy now has the Westinghouse LVM-37W3 on sale for $1,199.99.

However, it has been "deleted" from Best Buy's POS system. I saw this with my own eyes at the Colma, CA, store. They wanted to sell me the floor model, but the associate said that when a model is marked "deleted", it usually means that a newer model is coming soon. I find this very odd since the LVM-37W3 was just introduced a few months ago.
Has anyone heard any rumors about Westinghouse introducing a new 1080p 37" LCD?
