Take a look at the pics with the fans on the side of the road. They re-use most of the images. I'll be more impressed when they release some videos. I have the 360 running 1080i on my HDTV and I have yet to really be impressed with the games as most are 720p. The games that do run 1080i just don't have the beauty I expected. Hopefully the PS3 will come through for us.

Butrtoes

Comments on

Indeed, this is 1080P and on a 600 gaming machine? GTHD is just a reinteration of Gran Turismo 4, just all perked up running in 1080P. So dont expect it to be OMG TEH GR4PH1C5 AR3 4MAZ1NG!

All it is, is essentionally rendering the game at 1080P. (Rather than GT4 which renders at 1080i on the PS2 if Im not mistaken).

Zach

Comments on

both my pc and my projector is in 1920 x 1080, i am that guy X2.

clay

Comments on

@ Clay: Aw man, someones always gotta be special, lol.

Richard Lawler

Comments on

This is the same demo displayed at E3 by Sony on what Gran Turismo could be. It was done as a technical demonstration. It's simply pretty graphics and cars floating (I'm not kidding, the phyics are off!!) on the screen, while people standing near the road run out of the way from you if you drive in their path. And realism touches are not present whatsoever. No shadows, blurs, reflections, exhaust, tracks, etc, etc. So while it may look decent as a still photo, watching the demo leaves you unimpressed.

Can Sony release a full 1080p game? That's still unknown. Can Sony release a full 1080p technical demo? Sure, anyone can. Thing is, how many people have 1080p capable TVs?

Nort

Comments on

Actually, I don't think there are so few people running games on PCs at HD resolutions that we can joke and say "that one guy". A good chunk of gamers now regularly play at 1920x1200 (and, yes, that's actually slightly higher pixel count than 1080p). Just take a look around www.widescreengamingforum.com and you'll see. Another good indication of how widespread this is would be how many current games support 1920x1200 out of the box.

Who is so far "that one guy" may be the people gaming at 2560x1600, which still probably translates to hundreds of people around the world even today. But it's up and coming, and I know that'll be the native resolution of my next gaming rig (as it should be of all those who can afford it).

Ergin Guney
