What show do you wish was in HD?
High definition programming is grow rapidly; It has almost doubled in the last year. Still there are shows and channels that we wish were available in HD. Like Sci-Fi. They have great original shows like Battlestar Galactica and all those Stargate series. Plus, that new Ghosthunters show would be great in high-def. Oh and then there is F/X. Who wouldn't want to see The Shield and Rescue Me in HD? Oh and don't forget about Nip/Tuck. It is ashame that these are some of the best shows on TV and they aren't in HD. What shows/channels would you like to see in HD?

Survivor

Battlestar Galactica is already in HD. They are shown on the UHD network. Season 1 & 2 have already been shown and they are about to repeat season 1.

Sci-Fi Channel without question tops my list. Then probably the History Channel and the non-pay movie channels like AMC, A&E, and TBS. Just no stretching like TNT does, I hate that. :)

I just wish that FX was in HD so that any NASCAR races that are on it were in HD. I think all sporting events should be HD, period.

Daily Show, Colbert Report, Southpark
Andy Sullivan @ May 15th 2006 12:25PM
All the shows already mentioned plus USA and FoxSportsNet. Local station in Phoenix, Channel 3 started broadcasting Diamonback home games in HD. Their viewership has sky rocketed since.

I'd like to see Speed Channel go HD. Racing (especially sports cars and open-wheel cars) would be some of the best HD content.
Adam Jones @ May 15th 2006 12:30PM
The Golf Channel.
Joe @ May 15th 2006 12:37PM
Every golf tournament should be shown in HD -- I can't stand to watch the low-def versions after seeing the Masters in HD. Come on US Open!
Aaron Rodriguez @ May 15th 2006 12:43PM
Scifi...
for Stargate SG1, Atlantis and BSG alone would make that channel great.
rothgar @ May 15th 2006 12:50PM
SpikeTV, I know it is usually a bunch of re-runs but I would like watching it more in hiDef.
MxC-HD would be even better. I guess it makes it hard when you use someone else's footage though.
Tony @ May 15th 2006 12:55PM

Yeah, Universal HD also show old shows like Quantum Leap and Knight Rider in HD. They can do that because those shows were (or are, in the case of Battlestar Galactica) shot on film.
Aaron @ May 15th 2006 12:58PM
The Ultimate Fighter (and the rest of SpikeTV)
All of Comedy Central
All of SciFi

I second the Sci-Fi channel vote, with a reminder to Sci-Fi channel that Sci-Fi does not mean Horror, Medieval Fantasy (Magic etc.), or Vampire crap. Horror can be shown, but only if it is set in space, deeper than we can currently go underground/water facility, etc.
mike @ May 15th 2006 1:57PM
History Channel
TLC
Discovery SD (make it HD)
Daniel Clausen @ May 15th 2006 2:15PM
Sci-Fi is the most obvious choice. Stargate and BSG would be awesome in HD!
Rob @ May 15th 2006 2:49PM
Aside from all the aforementiond shows on FX, I'd love to see all those old sitcoms and dramas in HD for the first time. Unlike movies, which have been seen in all their high resolution glory on the big screen, these old TV shows were all shot on film, but have never been presented in high def. This would be a great HD-DVD/Blu-Ray opp.
Noodlez @ May 15th 2006 3:23PM
History Channel for sure.
And I'll be different and I am not ashamed to admit it, I wanna see Big Brother in HD
Kraig @ May 15th 2006 3:39PM
The Amazing Race. I know there are technicial issues with it, considering how much they are on the move, but if there is a reality show that would look great in HD, it's The Amazing Race.
Big Sam @ May 15th 2006 5:31PM
The important ones to me have already been covered: Survivor, Nip/Tuck, Battlestar Galatica (on a channel Comcast carries). Also the 4400 and the Closer (no TNT stretch-o-vision). And I wouldn't mind seeing cartoons in HD (Family Guy and Boondocks).
Brian @ May 15th 2006 5:40PM
SPEED and SciFi!!
Motocross, Supercross, and Formula One racing in HD would be a dream come true!!
BattleStar Galactica is awesome in HD, but I want it in HD on the SciFi channel so I don't have to wait 6 months for them to be on UHD. Plus, I don't have Universal, so I must download the HD episodes and stream them through my Xbox360....kind of a pain...
Bob Colby @ May 15th 2006 6:02PM
Some that are particularly appropriate for HD:
All the "Widescreen SD" shows that currently run on PBS HD. They look surprisingly good as is, but enough with the half-measures already!
Nightly network news - PBS may actually get there first (NewsHour scheduled for '07) - as long as they committ to HD for location shots.
I can think of three networks (aimed at video-savvy people) who would probably treat HD with more respect than most - AMC, IFC and Sundance.
Bob Colby @ May 15th 2006 6:05PM
Sorry, I need to amend that last one - I meant TMC (Turner Movie Classics), not AMC (obviously). TMC has actually run spots explaining why they're committed to showing movies in Original Aspect Ratio!
Tyler Durden @ May 15th 2006 7:05PM
F1 Racing and Frasier re-runs.
Can you air HD re-runs of a completed show? I dunno but if the eps were filmed in HD or at least 16 x 9, I would love to see them.

Masterpiece Theater & Mystery!

HDBeat showing their ignorance once more. Battlestar Galactica has been airing in HD for a long time. So has Stargate Atlantis although only in Canada.
I seem to remember in one podcast you were criticizing Robert Heron for knowing the technical aspects of HD but not having real-world knowledge like the fact that there is already a HD-Tivo. Maybe people (hdbeat) in glass houses shouldn't be throwing stones?
HD man @ May 15th 2006 11:02PM
I wouldn't mind so much if HDBeat makes mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes. But what upsets me is that you guys are then so critical of other people who make mistakes.
Ben Drawbaugh @ May 15th 2006 11:27PM
HD Man,
Not sure if you noticed, but I wrote the Robert Haron post and Matt wrote this post. We work together, but he shouldn't have to answer for my opinions.
Either way, I am sure Matt meant that he wishes Battle Star Galatica was in HD at the same time as it premiered rather than having to wait 6 months to see the reruns on UHD and he doesn't live in Canada so he isn't familiar with their programming.
HD man @ May 16th 2006 1:21AM
I knew that and I didn't mention anyone's name except HDBeat. You both are employees of the same company so you both reflect on that company's reputation.
Most readers don't pay attention to who is making each post. You're all under the same brand name so thats all people should be concerned about. Otherwise you should each have separate blogs if you want your opinions considered separately.

South Park in High Def, lol!

The Playboy Channel.
Just kidding.
But seriously, I'd love to see NASA TV in HD.
Colin @ May 28th 2006 1:36PM
Indy 500. At least in Chicago it's not in HD neither Comcast nor OTA. Grrr!
