Oh man. With all the
E3 news and
HD DVD hopla we have kind of forgotten about
SED's. These panels were original going to launch the first part of this year but got
pushed back and
pushed back. The current plan of Toshiba seems to be full scale retail sales by 2008 with initial offerings in late 2007. The goal is to have them available for the 2008 Olympics that is going to take place in the largest market of everything electronic: Beijing. They will start with 1080p 55-inch sets that we are sure are going to cost a bunch but look really, really good.

Why do these have to be so delayed? I continue to sit around watching my CRT HDTV, enjoying my luscious blacks and glorious brightness, wishing I could have all the same beauty in a flat panel... OH SED WHY DO YOU TORMENT ME?!

I want to replace my 46" 1080p LCD with a SED, but im not waiting until 2008. If the LED DLPs get good reviews, Ill just have to get that instead.
