LG: top plasma maker in the world
Who makes the most plasmas in the world? Matsushita/Panasonic or Samsung? Nope...Hitachi/Fujitsu...Nope. LG shipped the most plasmas last quarter. They claimed 31 percent of the market share while Matsushitas Panasonic brand fell a to the second spot and claimed 24 percent of the market. Samsung then dropped their second place spot and fell to third. The bad news in all this is that plasmas are not doing so well. Plasmas had a great last quarter but shipments are down 11 percent. Come on people. Buy some plasmas!

I thought LG and Philips had a partnership in making flat panels...or is that only for LCD?

LG truly deserves to be the market leader as it is focusing on the Plasma market a lot. LG factories in (Pune and Noida) are the largest manufacturers of conventional TVs in the LG universe (http://www.southasiabiz.com/2006/04/made_for_india_lg_nokia_philip.html). I guess that soon LG will take advantage of cheap Indian pool of workers and present us new Plasmas in an affordable price.

I'm suprised that plasma shippments are down since the current issue of Home Entertainment Theater compared three new LCD's and said that they would not choose any of them because of performance issues. One of the three was the Sony XBR. If nobody is buying plasmas what the heck are they buying?

I only recommend LCD TV's to my customers and have never had a single complaint, Why would anyone spend a huge amount of money on a TV (plasmas are more expensive than LCD's) for something that isnt even proper HD (no 1024x768 or whatever affordable plasmas are nowadays doesnt count).

I only recommend plasma to my customers; LCDs (still) look unnatural and on SD sources awful. 95% of the households are sitting too far away to see any differebce between the resolution of decent plasmas (1366X768) and a full HD (1980x1080) LCD. The fast majority of my customers prefer the PQ of a 42" 1024X768 plasma next to a 42" 1980X1080 LCD when displaying every day sources. Calculated inch by inch plasmas are cheaper than LCDs.

they shipped the most, but not the best quality. I have to be honest though, they have the best price
