HDTV Listings for April 8, 2006
What
we're watching: I criticized golf for being SD-only
recently, now that they have joined us in
high definition I'm obligated to watch. Minority Report's impressive
special effects should make it a great watch in HD at 8 p.m. on ABC, hopefully we'll be able to buy it on disc someday
and watch it in HD whenever we want.Depending on your perspective, SNL could go either way on quality tonight, as Antonio Banderas fills in the guest host spot vacated by last week's Scarlett Johanssen.

i couldn't agree more regarding golf in hi-def. the masters on usa/cbs is looking fantastic so far, but from what i understand, augusta has been "prepped" for hd broadcasting by means of fiber runs throughout the course, and the occasional use of the new wireless cameras as well. i think we can all appreciate the enormous amount of infrastructure and equipment needed to broadcast golf in HD; my fingers are crossed for the 2007 season being the breakout year for pga tour golf in HD, at least at the majors.

This is so cool.
Diane @ Apr 8th 2006 10:06PM
Ok, correct me if I'm wrong, but as much a waste of electrons it is, Cops IS in HD as far as I've seen, thus the vote of "FOX HD=0" would be incorrect.
Certainly quality HD =0, but HD content is there
Richard Lawler @ Apr 8th 2006 10:16PM
In the listings at least its not marked as HD, and fox's website is totally useless in finding out what is in HD and what isn't.
unfortunately i'm not at home to verify, maybe just not in my area?
that said, even if I were at home, I dunno if I could bear to watch, crackheads in 720p is a tough look.

I know this has come up before, but I've never seen a reply yet.
How about added HDNet and HDNet Movies to your daily listings? I think they are both national channels.
JB @ Apr 9th 2006 3:31PM
yea, i saw the golf in HD...great picture...
golf still sucks, though
Jason @ Apr 9th 2006 4:24PM
Just to confirm Richard and Diane's comments, I watched about 3 minutes of Cops yesterday before changing the channel, and it was in fact in HD.
Anyone else think Minority Report looked gorgeous?
Richard Lawler @ Apr 9th 2006 6:03PM
Wayne, you know, thats a good question. We'll take alook at it. PBS is tough for obvious reasons, but HDNet and Starz HD are putting a lot of good stuff out too.
