As of now, this isnt the case. I work at a small cable company (small compared to Comcast) and we do offer HD boxes with DVI (w/ DCP) output.

Also, I wanted to mention that I too have had a few universal remotes that might have been able to control all my devices, but weren't worth the trouble. I must say the the Logitech Harmony 880 is working great for me. The web based interface for programming isnt as quick as I think it should be, but I am finally able to control all my devices with one remote.

Thanks for the great site and great show.

Scott K

Comments on HDBeat Podcast 005 - 03.17.06

Ben - you may have already checked this out, but Lathe is a great program for getting video to portable devices (PocketPCs, Palm, iPod, etc.). I looked into their support of DVR-MS and based on the link below to their forum, they plan to add it.

http://www.omniquiti.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6&highlight=DVR-MS

It does cost $8, but worth the price to play with it. I use it to get video quickly and easily to my PocketPc 2002 and it works great. Here is the link to purchase it:

http://www.omniquiti.com/store.php

Joshua Nelson

Comments on HDBeat Podcast 005 - 03.17.06

By the way in the meantime it looks like this is a good first step and then use Lathe to get to your iPod.
http://www.thegreenbutton.com/community/shwmessage.aspx?ForumID=26&MessageID=113435

Joshua Nelson

Comments on HDBeat Podcast 005 - 03.17.06

Joshua,
I looked at those, I have been using DVRMSTOOLbox but it doesn't convert to iPod.
I suppose I could look at a 2 step approch but I realy was hoping for a one step, because of time and disk space.

Ben Drawbaugh

Comments on HDBeat Podcast 005 - 03.17.06

Hey Guys,

You mentioned that you were curious about any good codec comparisons.
