Hey you over there in
the UK! The
BBC has confirmed that they are starting trial HD broadcasts
in June. They're going to run the signal for a 12 month period on three different broadcast mediums. The first is
through
SkyHD and the second via Telewest cable. The last part is for a
few hundred over-the-air users in London. This is a closed trial for a select few. So viewers can expect to watch
Rome and Bleak House in HD real soon. BBC
just might have coverage of the World Cup as what would an European
HD announcement be with out the
World Cup sneaking in here
someplace!

BBC is not the first in Europe to start this!!!!
The Dutch NOS (National Broadcast Service) is going to let cable companies relay the HD signal (1080i) to cable customers throughout the entire country.
Alongside with that, other programming like Discovery HD etc. is going to be available. Even at this moment we can recieve Euro1080 (now called HD1 and HD5) throught te satelite.
Now i just haven to buy an HDTV....

the story doesn't say anywhere that this is a first, if you read on hear each day you'd know they've posted about HD in UK before
back to the story:
"They're going to run the signal for a 12 month period on three different broadcast mediums."
what happens in 12 months?
do they just switch it off and go back to SD?
