UHD and Comcast was temporary
It appears that now that the Olympics are over so is Universal HD's carriage
on Comcast. Comcast customers are reporting in that they no longer receive Universal HD and when one reader called
in the customer service rep indicated that the channel was just temporary for the Olympics.
I hope you guys enjoyed Battlestar Galactica in HD while it lasted. Adversary D wants to know where he is supposed to go
to enjoy Knight Rider in HD? He's welcome to come to my house and watch it via DIRECTV!Did anyone else suddenly lose Universal HD or do you still have it after receiving it for the Olympics?
Thanks for the tip Adversary D!

Hi, you forgot to mention TNT-HD on the Seattle lineup.
Gene Cowan @ Feb 28th 2006 6:01PM
Yup, UHD has disappeared in San Jose as well -- what the hell was the point of giving us the network in the first place, which featured darn little Olympics coverage... and yet still had infinitely more shows worth watching than the pointless INHD2, which has returned.
INHD2 is just the same content as INHD, but scheduled differently. A waste of a channel.
adversary D @ Feb 28th 2006 6:09PM
Man am going to mish being able to see the camera crew in the reflection of K.I.T.T. Damn you comcast!!!!
I ccant wait till the day we can get all channels in HD.I can barley stand watching my SciFi in SD :(
Sean @ Feb 28th 2006 6:41PM
Yep, lost it here in texas on time warner
TexRob @ Feb 28th 2006 6:55PM
Still have it on Time Warner in Austin, TX. We didn't have it before the olympics. Fingers crossed.
Larry @ Feb 28th 2006 7:15PM
Lost UHD in Atlanta as soon as the Olympics were over. What is so crappy is that they never put out any message that they were going to carry it, then nothing when they took it away. The arrogance of Comcast is Universal. They obviously have the bandwidth to add more channels, but customers be damned.
Andres Echevarria @ Feb 28th 2006 9:14PM
Time Warner in Charlotte dropped it. I suspected that might be the case because the guide labeled the channel as "Olympics".
klew @ Feb 28th 2006 10:29PM
Comcast in San Francisco Bay Area dropped it before the closing ceremonies, leaving several hours of dead air on channel 720. They also never announced they were carrying it, so I missed about six days of it.
Ed @ Feb 28th 2006 10:30PM
UHD was removed from my Comcast lineup (New Jersey 'burb of Philadelphia PA) at noon on 02/28/2006
Geoffrey @ Feb 28th 2006 10:38PM
still have it here in connecticut. still waiting for comcast to provide TNT-HD though.
Greg P @ Feb 28th 2006 11:18PM
TW Rochester dropped it from the free tier (I'm told), but it is available on the hd tier which I get, so I wouldn't notice that it was gone. I decided to check on qam before this post, and it was still there, go figure! So the people that have a box are out of luck, but a regular qam tuner gets it. How long will that last!
topher @ Mar 1st 2006 2:52AM
Timewarner in los angeles just lost it too... Damn, i was enjoying Monk in HD...
Ben @ Mar 1st 2006 6:55AM
I'm here in Atlanta and I thought that this channel was no good. The PQ was pretty good, but content wise I wouldn't want it. I don't know how much of it's regular scheduling was interrupted by the Olympics, but I wouldn't want a channel that only showed Quantum Leap, Knight Rider, and Medical Investigation all day long.
Why in the world can Comcast not actually provide us with some good HD content? Once dish or direct Tv has all their satellites up I might switch over (they're advertising 20+ HD channels). The content is there, they just won't broadcast it.
TakeFlight @ Mar 1st 2006 12:36PM
UHD doesn't carry a lot of shows that are shining examples of HD at it's best, but to tell you the truth, I found myself watching it quite a bit while I had it, particularly The Equalizer. I never watched that show during it's original run. I caught a few episodes on UHD and I believe it's one of the better shows that came out of the 80s that still holds up pretty good (I think the opening credits/song was ahead of it's time). But, unfortunately no more UHD so no more The Equalizer. :) I guess it's for the best since I watch too much TV anyway. :) But back to UHD, I liked a number of the movies they showed and personally I would rather watch UHD than INHD or INHD2. The honeymoon with HD is over for me after 5 months of having it. No longer can I just watch something because it is in HD and looks great. I need things that are entertaining as well. While UHD isn't the best channel around, I definitely would watch it before I would watch some of the other HD channels I already have.
Pete @ Mar 1st 2006 12:49PM
As of last night in NH UHD was still on Comcast. I really haven't been that impressed with UHD. Battlestar and Knight Rider? Come on, how about something that we actually WANT to watch in HD. I'd be fine losing UHD and gaining HDNet.
Joseph Moore @ Mar 1st 2006 1:58PM
Gone from Nashville, as well. Caught Battlestar Galactica just once. Can't stand to watch in in SD, so very sad to see it go. C'mon Comcrap!
David @ Mar 1st 2006 3:10PM
Time Warner Austin was supposed to drop it just like they did after the last Olympics, but they have unofficially announced in a local Yahoo group where cable and Roadrunner issues are discussed that it will stay.
rocko @ Mar 1st 2006 3:17PM
im in the same boat as number 11. Jersey burbs next to Philly, no more UHD. bummer.
Jellodyne @ Mar 1st 2006 4:18PM
TWC in Minneapolis added it for Olympics, dropped it after. Seems to be a lot of that going around.
Krhainos @ Mar 1st 2006 7:54PM
I heard people losing it, so I left UHD (TWC NE Ohio, Chan 560) on my cablebox on Monday night -- returned Tuesday night and still saw UHD. It didn't show up in either Guide or Info, and entering 560 again caused it to display "???" then switched to the next HD channel (ESPNHD).
I wonder how long I could've gotten away with set-top left on UHD. :(
Ralph @ Mar 3rd 2006 9:54AM
I'm in Washington, DC and sure enough, UHD, channel 250 on Comcast, is GONE. I wrote a nice letter to Comcast, yesterday, asking them to either add the channel back, or lower my monthly bill to compensate.
RJ @ Mar 3rd 2006 2:27PM
Same goes here for dish network. UNI HD is gone...
Scott M @ Mar 6th 2006 10:30AM
Ditto here. I was suprised to see that I was receiving UHD during the Olympics and now it's gone. Not too big of a deal though, there didn't seem to be much besides the Olympics on that channel anyways.
Eric @ Mar 11th 2006 11:35PM
Universal HD not available through my cable box.
But, it is available through my qam input on my t.v.
I can't record, but I can still watch. Channel 103.
Chitchatjf @ Mar 25th 2006 2:10AM
Not in Boston!
UHD is alive and well on channel 846.
