Add Virginia to the list of FIOS states
The Virginia General Assembly has
drafted a law and passed it on to the Governor to sign on July 1st. This will help ease Verizon's pain in deploying FIOS
in that state by making it very easy to get carriage agreements, but not as easy as Texas. FIOS is popping up all over and it's well received for
good reason. It offers very high speed Internet access and great quality HD! Don't run out and call them just yet, it can take some time for this to be available in your area. You will know it's close when you start to see Verizon FIOS pizza boxes.

We get SBC, but I would assume that SBC is developing something similar. Our state is presently undergoing the battle over deregulation, and it's a pretty big issue right now. It looks like it will pass, though. Probably a couple of years out, but I'll have to keep my eye on the technology. What are the specifics?

They are digging up everyone's lawns on the west end of Richmond. The only problem was they did not put down sod until I complained. Can't wait for Fios though...probably worth the lawnscaping disaster.
