Transcode 360 provides DivX support for WMCE
Oh, we're
lickin' our chops over this one. Transcode 360 came out in public beta earlier this week and we've got the Zip file
already on the Windows Media Center box in the HDBeat
labs! No time to get 'er up and running just yet, but we didn't feel right not sharing the goods, so go check it
out if you're looking for DivX support on WMCE. The short description is right up our alley too: "Designed for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 and the Xbox 360, Transcode 360 aims to broaden
the support for a wide range of video media including DivX and XviD." Life is good.

I have a laptop with windows media center edition on it. What can this transcode 360 do for me? Would love to get a usb 5.1 surround sound for my laptop too. That would be awesome.

joejoe, this will let you play DivX files within WMCE; if you had a Windows Media Extender you could pipe those DivX videos to it, much like we stream HDTV over WiFi to our Xbox 360.

WOW, this is awesome, I've been spending countless hours converting divx and xvid videos into WMV format for playback on my xbox 360. Not any longer with this amazing piece of software. I just tried it on a couple widescreen xvid movies and it works perfectly and only uses about 50-60% cpu on my athlon64 3200+...not bad. This might be a good reason to upgrade my processor to a dual core!
AWESOME!!

For those interested in playing WMV-HD DVD's on their xbox 360, I figured out a trick to make it work with a Windows Media Center machine. First, insert the WMV-HD DVD into the WMCE computer and allow it to play for a few seconds...this ensures the DRM has been authorized on your computer. Then, browse the DVD and find the .wmv file on the DVD and copy it to your My Videos folder or whatever folder you have setup to share videos to your xbox 360. After it's finished copying you can now play it on your hdtv with your xbox 360. I used this trick with my Fighter Pilot WMV-HD DVD and it works perfectly! I still cannot beleive MS didn't build WMV-HD DVD support into the xbox360, shame on them!

I've just finished developing an application that allows you to stream DivX and any movie to the 360. Also allows you to pause, rewind and fast forward the stream.
Let me know what you think:
