Real communication to properly do what the harmony remotes attempt.<br><br><br><br>You know what would be nice to see, an RF ATSC modulator in products.  Imagine, being able to tell people to put it on channel 3 (or whatever) again.  Only this time, you loose nothing.  1080i/720p with 5.1 DD surround, and all the user has to worry about connecting is what they are used to.  You could market a box that has like 5 inputs, each one offering a choice of HDMI or component, with optical and coaxial audio.  A quick setup would make the inputs show as 100-1 though 100-5 (or something similar) on you DTV antenna hookup 8VSB, or DCATV cable QAM hookup.<br><br><br><br>Of course, the industry would never have it because if you could upgrade, you wouldn't replace, if the components could take to each other via standard interface, there would be no brand loyalty, and the ATSC modulator thing would never happen without a "broadcast flag" that was always turned on from the box to the TV.<br><br><br><br>I'm done typing, and deal with the typos...]]></description><dc:creator><![CDATA[NNTPgrip]]></dc:creator><pubDate>Jan 3rd 2006 3:02PM</pubDate></item><item><title><![CDATA[Comments on HDMI to add more features]]></title><link>http://www.engadgethd.com/2006/01/03/hdmi-to-add-more-features/</link><guid isPermaLink="true">http://www.engadgethd.com/2006/01/03/hdmi-to-add-more-features/</guid><description><![CDATA[Most consumers would love a RF ATSC modulator in products. But the MPAA will fight this all the way, since it will make it far to easy to record. Especially considering the main reason for HDMI/UDI is more DRM not less. <br><br><br><br>Any word on HDMI's capabitlity to support a compressed signal?
