LG.Philips investing BIG in new LCDs

LG PhillipsLG.Philips, the second largest flat screen maker just after Samsung, is looking to build a large flat panel assembly plant just outside of Seoul. This plants is going to cost $485.5 million dollars and that's just the building. The initial investment does not call for the installation of production lines and everything inside. That and further details will come later.

I am no large-scale builder but that seems like it is going to be a huge building to cost nearly a half a million dollars. The LG.Philips joint venture has been a success over the last few years. It has brought us countless flat panel advancements and evolutions of current technology. They have lobbied heavily for the standardized size of larger flat panels to be 37-inches. They produced the flat tube that puts a new spin on old technology until current technology catches up in picture quality.

This large investment in producing more flat panels is sure to help bring down the cost and raise the quality at the same time.
