I GOT AN XBOX 360, THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE
After four and a half hours outside of Ann Arbor East Target, I was #17 of 18 purchasers of the Xbox 360. That's the good news. The bad news is, I can't feel my feet, and I had to get a core system (no high def cables - booooooo!). I said forget it and bought the hard drive and HD cables as accessories, as well as the Xbox Live headset, the fact I spent $40 more than those would have cost me as a part of the premium package AND I still don't have a wireless controller or a remote is not registering in my still-frozen mind. I have NBA 2K6 currently, I'll be picking up Project Gotham 3 and Perfect Dark Zero momentarily, 1080i reflections to be posted later.

Congrats Rich, I was pulling for ya! I personally will be waiting for a while to make a decision/purchase but I certainly would be interested to hear people's thoughts.

Good work. A friend and I visited 6 stores- 2 Walmarts,2 Meijers, 1 Target, and a just opened EB games in search of the premium system and finally ended up with a core 360 (which were almost gone by that point as well). I spent two hours playing Call of Duty 2 and Perfect Dark before heading home for some sleep :) I want to check out some of the multimedia capabilities (http://gamesfirst.com/?id=1003) but I probably won't be able to power it up again for a day or two.

Here is my tale of the Hunt for 360.
On my way home last night at around 1 AM I passed the Target near my house and saw that people were camping out. I headed home and went to sleep (just put in an 80 hour week at work to get a release out of a new product, Talkman T5, coincidently released on November 22, 2005; shameless plug: www.vocollect.com). I got up and arrived at Target around 7 AM to find out that they handed out the tickets for the 360s at 6:30 AM and they only had 6 of each SKU. So I proceeded to Sams Club where the line that had been standing outside prior to my arrival was now inside getting 360s. They had 20 of them and were already sold out. So I continued on my journey to Toys R Us where there was a line of about 20 people. I spoke with some of the people in line and they said that no one from Toys R Us had spoken to them yet. So based on my previous experience I decided not to wait in that line, instead I proceeded to Sears. I ended up third in line at the lower entrance. They opened up the doors at 8 AM, mind you there was a second line at the 2nd floor entrance. Well apparently they opened up that door first and by the time I reached the electronics department I was 5th in line. The cashier came over and said that they only had 2 360s. Needless to say, I gave up and went to work. I will be waiting patiently by the phone for the call from EB about my preorder. Until then I will live vicariously through my friends who preordered early enough to get one on launch day. The End!

I stopped by my local Best Buy in South Florida last night to grab a couple of DVD's. Much to my dismay, even at 7pm, there were 15 people in line already! Go figure, a cold front moved into the area last night! All I can say, is thank g-d my kids are 3 and under. I can only imagine the anxiety and pressure so many parents are going through not to disappoint there kids!

After 17 hours of waiting outside in the freezing cold (with a little freezing rain) I am now the proud owner of a Premium XBox360. The temp was about 35 with 15 mph winds making it quite chilly. We built up a wind block and had some sleeping bags. Once I was in my sleeping bag at 11pm I didn't get out until 8am when they started to hand out the tickets. I was warm as could be in that thing. With all the crap they were handing us I wasn't sure which coupon to use on which item. And just today I found a buying for my old Xbox so I'm all set. Once I finish this breakfast meal I'm gonna start to have my HD gaming.
