Unconventional deal on Dell LCD monitor

This is an incredible deal for those looking for a medium size LCD TV, or monitor for that matter. Dell is running a great promo on their 20.1-inch and 24-inch UltraSharps for $394 and $780 respectively. These are amazing monitors and you can turn them into equally as good TVs.
Follow me here. Take the 24-inch UltraSharp and hook it up to digital cable or satellite through an HDMI to DVI connection to get the picture. Take your feet and plant them firmly on the ground while flexing your thighs in order to stand up and then proceed to put one feet in front of the other and make your way in that fashion to the monitor. Press the power button and then quickly collapse back into the sitting position and use the remote that came with the cable box/satellite receiver to change the channel.
This guy could work double duty with your computer as well. It does only have one DVI connection so you will ether need to run VGA from your computer or use a DVI switch box to select the appropriate source.

UPDATE: Here is another site with another coupons to make the monitor $799. Dell does run promos like this once in awhile so if you missed this one, check back and we will keep you up to date.

The coupons expired at 6:00 this morning so they are no good.

I've been wanting one of those 24" models for use with my computer at home. I'd love to replace my two 19" monitors with one widescreen monitor. Plus it's got component video input so I could use it as another tv for my Halo2 parties. It'd be really nice if they could add HDMI to that monitor though.

These deals pop up all the time - if this expires keep an eye over at www.gotapex.com. This is truly an amazing monitor (the 24") - will run 1080p (1920x1200), DVI, VGA, S-Video, Composite, and Component inputs, integrated 9-in-1 card reader, 12ms response time, and 4 USB 2.0 ports

I've used the Dell 24" LCD strictly as my HD display since it became available in March. The price was right ($900 shipped at the time with sales tax) and it has done a great job. As mentioned, this LCD doesn't have the HDCP circuitry enabled (supposedly, it is in there, just no "active"), so it cannot be fed from an HDMI source (converted to DVI). I've been using the Component inputs with my SA-8300HD cable box with no problems at all. I've never used it as a PC display. It probably too big for me to sit right in front of it.

I have one of these and on an graphics card DVI digital oputput to the DVI digital input it is a thing of beauty.
VGA RAMDAC quality problems go out the widnow, digital all the way and games such as Unreal Tornament 2004 look lovely on it at 1940x1080.
